President Buhari Appoints CEOs, EDs of Federal Agencies                                       President Muhammadu Buhari (NAN) According to Punch, President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of five Chief Executive officers and two Executive Directors of some Federal Agencies. This was disclosed in a statement issued by Mr Olusegun Adekunle, Permanent Secretary (General Services) Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation on Friday in Abuja. According to him, Mr Okechukwu Ukwuoma, Director-General, National Centre for Technology Management is re-appointed for a final term of four years with effect from July 22. Also, Prof. Victor Adetiloye, Chief Medical Director, Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital, Ile-Ife, was re-appointed for the final term of four years with effect from September 22. Buhari also approved the appointment of Amb. Abdul-Jalil Suleiman as the Director-General, Directorate of Technical Cooperation in Africa

Just In: Court, Kachikwu’s Appointment Absolves Buhari of Blame As President/Oil Minister                                                                                                  Buhari and Kachikwu according to reports from Punch, the Federal High Court in Abuja has declared that President Muhammadu Buhari cannot legally double as the Minister of Petroleum Resources. The court made the declaration on Thursday while giving judgment in a suit filed last year by a former President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Dr. Olisa Agbakoba (SAN). Agbakoba had, in the suit, urged the court to restrain Buhari from continuing to hold the office of the Minister of Petroleum Resources. The SAN had contended that Section 138 of the 1999 Constitution forbids the President from “holding any other executive office or paid employment.” In a statement on Friday by his office, Agbakoba said the court in deciding the case held that Buhari had not violated Section 138, since he

Nyame’s 14-year Jail Term Reduces To 12, Adds N525m Fine by Appeal Court                                                  Former Taraba State Governor Jolly Nyame at his conviction in May. Web image The Court of Appeal in Abuja, on Friday reduce the 14-year  imprisonment imposed by the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Gudu, Abuja on a former Governor of Taraba State, Jolly Nyame, earlier this year, to 12 years. Justice Abdul Aboki-led three-man panel of the Court of Appeal, in addition to the 12-year sentence, also imposed a fine of total sum of N525m on the convict, a fine that the lower court had omitted while dispensing the earlier sentence.

Nigeria Army Constructs Holding Facility For Insurgents                                                              Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai According to  reports , the Nigerian Army says it has embarked on the construction of a holding facility in Borno State to improve management of detained insurgents during investigations. Brig.-Gen. Texas Chukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, said this in a statement on Friday in Maiduguri. Chukwu said that the project had become imperative to enhance the management of detained insurgents, in accordance with international best practices. The statement said that Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, was represented at the foundation-laying ceremony of the project by Maj.-Gen. Enobong Udoh, the Chief of Logistics, Army Headquarters. Corpses Of Two Naked Ladies Found Dumped By The Roadside With Organs Cut-off (Graphic Photos)   Corpses of the two ladies   The naked body of the corpses of two ladies with their organs missing was found by, the residents of Loum village in Umunze, Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State, along Umunze-Abia expressway.   According to a shocking report by Orient Weekend, the corpses were discovered by farmers on their way to farm before alerting Umunze vigilante group who subsequently invited police operatives that later evacuated them.    One of the vigilantes who saw the bodies and spoke to a correspondent, said, “the corpses were lying by the expressway way after Federal Government College of Education, Technical, Umunze, just at the entrance of the path­way to Loum villagers’ farms. “We were alerted by the farmers that made the discovery in the morning. EFCC Arrests 23 OOU Students, 12 Others For Internet Fraud The suspected yahoo boys The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission  has arrested 34 suspected Internet fraudsters at 21, Sawmill Road Awa-Ijebu, Ogun State. The suspects who are between 19 and 37 years include  23 students at Olabisi Onabanjo University,  out of which nine were ladies who allegedly claimed to be girlfriends or neighbours of some of the suspects; one was said to be a student of the National Open University of Nigeria, while 12 others are non-students. The  EFCC operatives recovered over 300 hundred SIM cards from them.  Other items recovered from the suspects include: different models  cars, 18 laptops (nine being of Apple brand), 50 telephones (21 iPhones) and two bags of fetish objects (juju).
