Court Denies El-Zakzaky's Shi'ite Leader Bail  El-Zakzazy A State High Court sitting in the state capital of Kaduna, has denied the bail application filed by counsel to the leader of Islamic Movement in Nigeria, Sheikh Ibrahim El Zakzaky and his wife, Channels TV reports. The Presiding Judge, Justice Gideon Kurada in his ruling on Wednesday, said the accused persons have not shown any substantial medical evidence to grant them bail in their written application. The judge however ordered that the two accused persons should remain in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) throughout the period of their trial. The matter has been adjourned to January 22, 2019, for accelerated hearing.

Prince Charles, Arrives Lagos With His wife Camilla  Prince Charles, of Whales, arrived Lagos on Wednesday for an official visit to the state amid tight security. According to reports by News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that Charles and his entourage arrived aboard a B737 aircraft with registration number CS-TFY, which landed at the Presidential Wing of the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos, at 12.08pm. He was received by the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Mrs Idiat Adebule, officials of the United Kingdom Consulate and security chiefs. The prince’s visit to Lagos is in continuation of his three-day business and cultural tour of Nigeria and also to mark the 75th Anniversary of the British Council in Nigeria. According to reports by Punch, four banks were, on Wednesday morning, sealed in Owerri, the Imo State capital, over their failure to respect an order of the court issued in favour of a former governor of the state, Ikedi Ohakim; and against the incumbent governor, Rochas Okorocha. The affected banks are Diamond on Item Street, First Bank PLC on Bank Road, United Bank for Africa on Mbari Street and Union Bank on Bank Road. Rochas Okorocha Sues IG Of Police, EFCC, Demands N1bn In Damages Over His Home Invasion   Gov. Rochas Okorocha   Rochas Okorocha Imo State Governor, has filed a legal suit against the Inspector General of Police (IGP) over alleged breach of his fundamental human rights following an “invasion and ransacking” of his house in Jos.   The APC politician, who filed his case before Justice Musa Kurya of the Jos Federal High Court, is demanding for N1.25 billion as general damages for the action.   Joined in the suit are Commissioner of Police Plateau, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), and the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice as 2nd, 3rd and 4th respondents.   Gov. Photo Of A Man Who killed His Neighbour Over 'Accumulated Grievances’ in Niger Garba Maru On Tuesday, the Niger State Police Command arrested one Garba Maru of Kokani Village, Fulani Camp, New Bussa in Borgu Local Government Area of the state for alleged murder. According to Punch report, the suspect was said to have killed one Umar Mohammed of the same address with a cutlass over some grievances. It was learnt that one Hassan Mohammed had earlier reported that the deceased, who was his elder brother, was in the market when the suspect and one Dan-Muzua asked him to come back to their camp. The suspect and his accomplice reportedly engaged Umar in a fight and allegedly killed him. According to reports by Punch,the health workers were abducted while on their way to Nasarawa-Toto Local Government Area. The Chairman, NSPHCDA, Dr Mohammed Adiz, who confirmed the abduction, to Northern City News in Lafia on Tuesday, however, declined to give further details about the incident.
