Bayelsa Flood Victims to Benefit From NAF Medical Outreach Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadiq Abubakar According to reports from Punch, The Nigerian Air Force says it has begun a five-day medical outreach for nearly 4,000 Internally Displaced Persons in Bayelsa. Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, made this known in a statement on Friday in Abuja. Daramola said the medical intervention holding at Igbogene Community in Yenagoa Local Government Area was an initiative of the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar.   He said that Abubakar had directed the NAF Medical Services unit to take the necessary steps to ameliorate the suffering of the victims of the flood. The director quoted Abubakar as saying that NAF would always be ready to deploy its resources in alleviating the hardship faced by Nigerians. The United Nations Children’s Education Fund, which made this known on Friday said some of the children are as young as 11. Nigerians Returned From Libya, Over 10,000 Says NEMA File photo: Libya returnee The National Emergency Management Agency, on Friday, said no fewer than 10,000 Nigerians, have voluntarily returned from Libya between April 2017 and October 2018. The  News Agency of Nigeria  reports that the South West Zonal Coordinator of NEMA, Mr Yakubu Suleiman, made this disclosure while receiving a new batch of 161 returnees, who arrived Lagos on Friday. Suleiman said that the Nigerians were assisted back in 50 flights facilitated by the International Organisation for Migration.According to him, the returnees arrived at the Cargo Wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos at about 3:10am and were received by officials of NEMA and other agencies at the airport. Sowed Mansur, Elgon region Police spokesperson, said that police has recovered 35 bodies. He added that the injured were more than 30 and were receiving treatment at Bududa Health Centre and Bukalasi Health Centre. Torrential rains on Thursday triggered landslides in Bukalasi and Buwali sub-counties in Bududa district, leaving scores of people dead and property destroyed. Uganda’s Red Cross, a relief organisation, said people were scared and fleeing their homes for safety as the downpour continued all over the mountainous Elgon region. Ugandan President, Yoweri Museveni, on Thursday night, urged the residents of the hit area to cooperate with the authorities to avoid more danger.
