The late student A 300-level Entrepreneurship student of the Department of Management Sciences, University of Benin, Austin Okafor has died reportedly as a result of the lackadaisical attitude of the school management. According to reports, Okafor had gone to the Health Centre on October, 2, 2018, for medical attention and was referred to the Uniben Teaching Hospital, on Wednesday morning, after he started urinating blood. It was gathered that despite the emergency situation, the ambulance conveying him with no life support facilities, was still made to stop at the Student Affairs Division to obtain a clearance permit before he could be treated at UBTH. The collision, which occurred at 5:50 p.m. (1530 GMT) on Thursday during peak rush hour travel, left 32 passengers with serious but not critical injuries. “The injured commuters were taken for medical attention at various hospitals,”  Metrorail  said in a statement. “A board of enquiry will be instituted soon to determine the root cause of the accident.” In January, a similar train accident on the outskirts of Johannesburg injured 200 people. Bus collision, 13 killed Web.photo Thirteen people has died and two were injured when two buses collided Friday on a highway northwest of Moscow, regional authorities said. The accident happened when a mini-bus veered out of its lane into oncoming traffic and hit a bigger bus outside the city of Tver, a spokesman for the regional interior ministry, Vadim Levshin, told  AFP . All of the 13 dead were passengers of the smaller bus. Two other people were hospitalised, Levshin said. Russia is notorious for deadly road accidents due to disregard for traffic rules, although the situation has somewhat improved over the past few years. More than 19,000 people died in traffic accidents in Russia last year, according to official statistics.

Since a worker deserves his wages, it baffles many Nigerians why state governors upon receipt of their monthly federal allocation will still refuse to pay salaries. The worst hit state is Imo, where the state governor, Rochas Okorocha, is owing six months salaries and over 60 months of pension gratuities to retirees. We laud a proposal made recently by the Federal Ministry of Finance to block access of erring governors from accessing remaining USD $2.69bn Paris Club refund.

In Plateau Herdsmen kill 19 at midnight attack According to report from Punch Metro, About 19 persons, including a family of seven,  have been confirmed dead after gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen launched an attack on Ariri community in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State. Eyewitnesses said four others were seriously injured after the attack which took place on Wednesday night in the community. Among the victims of the attack which took place at about 11:30 pm include toddlers, women, young children and local farmers. The latest attack, which threw the community into another panic, came amid condemnation of the alleged militarisation and presence of fake soldiers in the Jos metropolis. SAA flight:Passengers robbed  According to Punch metro reporter,  At least two passengers on a South African Airways flight headed to Hong Kong from Johannesburg alleged that they were robbed of money and other valuables while on board. Cabin crew were told by some passengers during the flight on Monday that their valuables, stowed in the overhead compartments, had gone missing, reports South Africa’s  TimesLive. SAA spokesman, Tlali Tlali, confirmed that an incident happened on flight SA 286 on Monday. He said, “While still en route to Hong Kong‚ two passengers approached our crew complaining that they had lost their valuables (money and a watch).”  “One of the complainants was able to point out a few passengers who had behaved in a suspicious manner in the cabin and who were seen opening some overhead compartments while other passengers were sleeping.”

 Fuel Tanker Explodes in Akure,  The scene    A Tanker loaded with fuel  has exploded in a community in Akure, causing serious damage in the area.  According to Sahara Reporters,  fire has raged at Onyarugbulem junction by Akure-Owo-Benin expressway in Ondo, after A tanker carrying 33,000 litres of inflammable liquid exploded, SaharaReporters reports.   The accident, which happened on Wednesday, was caused after the tanker swerved off the road and emptied its content.   Although SaharaReporters could not immediately confirm the number of casualties, eyewitnesses said six people died in the inferno.     It was also learnt that at least five vehicles were caught in the fire.   The location of the accident is a short distance from the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) mega filling station in Akure, the Ondo State capital.   Eyewitnesses blamed the accident on the impatie...

According to a report by Punch Metro, it was gathered that both husband and wife lived together at their house on Leadway Estate, Eruwen, Ikorodu, Lagos State. It was learnt that on July 23, 2018, Funmilayo, a building contractor, got a business deal of N159,000. When she was given the money, her husband reportedly advised her to deposit it in her bank account. On getting to the bank in company with her husband, Funmilayo was reportedly turned back because she had yet to register for her Bank Verification Number.
