Ararume:  I Want  To Govern Imo, to Address It Various Problems

Ifeanyi Ararume
Senator Ifeanyi Ararume the All Progressive Grand Alliance governorship candidate in Imo State, said his ambition to govern the state is to address its various problems.

According to reports, the governorship candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance in Imo State, Senator Ifeanyi Ararume, has said his desire to govern the state is based on the need to solve the numerous problems facing the people of the state.
Ararume  said this on Monday in Lagos while briefing journalists about his governorship ambition. He said becoming the governor of the state would not add anything to him financially.
Ararume, who recently defected from the ruling All Progressives Congress to APGA, said he would not have been jostling for the governorship seat now if the problems of poor infrastructure, security, poor health facilities and other challenges facing the people had been addressed by successive administrations in the state.
He said, “Governing Imo will not add any value to me but it will give me the opportunity to serve my people more. I will be fulfilled to serve my people more.
“My attraction to govern Imo is to address the challenges there. The challenges have not been dealt with. For example, you can’t drive one kilometre in Owerri, the state capital, without undulation.
“I think that is why the governor said the rains in Imo are acidic. Imo soil is not as bad as Lagos soil in terms of construction so, that excuse is not tenable.”
The governorship candidate said he played some roles in the emergence of the APC government in the state, saying the people knew him well.
He promised to strengthen security agencies in the state to ensure security of lives and properties in order to create a conducive environment for business and development.
He added, “We will partner the Federal Government to rehabilitate and reinvigorate the Ohaji/Egbema Power Plant to ensure energy sufficiency in Imo State.“The Federal Government Public Procurement Act which is non-existent in Imo State will be domesticated through the state House of Assembly to ensure proper business environment.”
Ararume also promised to pay arrears of pensions and gratuities owed retired civil servants in the state, while promising to cancel all illegal deductions from the salaries of workers.
The APGA candidate said he would also conduct local government elections within one year if elected as governor.
This, he said, would ensure the restoration of democratically-elected leaders at the local government level.
